In this relaxed and welcoming experience, you’ll learn the essentials—from identifying tiles and setting up the game to understanding the official strategy card, game rules, and basic turn flow. You’ll also learn the Charleston passing sequence and have plenty of opportunity to practice as you play.

Mahjong 102:

Designed to be scheduled one week after Mahjong 101, this class is all about putting your new skills into practice. You’ve learned the tiles, the rules, and how the game works—now it’s time to build confidence and bring it all together at the table.
Mahjong 102 is the next step for players who understand the fundamentals of American Mah Jongg and are ready to strengthen their skills. This class focuses on reinforcing the basics while introducing strategy, defensive play, and helpful gameplay tips that make the game feel more natural and intuitive.
Perfect for players who have completed Mahjong 101—or recently learned the basics elsewhere—and want a supportive, social environment to keep practicing, learning, and improving their game.

Guided Play:
Take your Mahjong skills to the table and put them into practice with real-time coaching in a true game setting. Guided Play is designed for players who know the basics—ideally having completed Mahjong 101 and 102 or a beginner lesson—and are ready to build confidence, improve speed, and strengthen their strategy.
You’ll play full rounds with other players while a Mahjong teacher joins your table to provide subtle, in-the-moment guidance. They’ll answer questions, reinforce correct play, and help you think through decisions as the game unfolds—without interrupting the natural flow of play.
It’s the perfect next step for players who are ready to move beyond the basics, gain confidence, and feel more comfortable making decisions on their own at the table.

Open Play:
Join us every Thursday at The Denver Village for a relaxed, social afternoon of American Mah Jongg! Open Play is the perfect opportunity for Mahjong lovers of all levels to gather, practice their skills, and enjoy the game simply for the joy of playing. Players must know the basic rules—there’s no formal instruction, just good games, great company, and plenty of satisfying tile clacking.
Everything you need to play is provided, so just bring your Mahjong card and your love of the game. We’ll take care of the rest, including light snacks and a refreshing drink to enjoy while you play.
