Hi, I’m Deena! Welcome to Mahj at The Denver Village!

If we haven’t met yet, let me introduce myself! I’ve been an elementary teacher for over 25 years, with a Master’s in Reading Education and a Reading Specialist background. I tutor elementary students in my neighborhood. Teaching has always been something I truly love, especially helping people learn something new and feel confident doing it.

And in the last two years, I fell in love with Mahjong! I took a class with some friends in October of 2024, and my obsession began! What started as a game quickly became so much more. I love the strategy, the beautiful tiles, the table setups, the laughter…and most of all, the people who gather around the table. As a teacher, I naturally love teaching, guiding, encouraging, and making learning fun, so bringing those things together with Mahjong felt like the perfect fit. That’s how Mahj at The Denver Village.

This new chapter feels especially meaningful for me. With my two boys heading off to college, I’ve found myself with a little more time to pour into something that brings me so much joy, and to create a space where women can come together, learn something new, and build friendships around the Mahjong table.

And I couldn’t think of a better place to do that than The Denver Village near Stanley Marketplace. This is the perfect place for Central Park, Park Hill and surrounding areas! 

I’m so excited for this new adventure and can’t wait to welcome you to the table!
